The Journals

Each one is made by hand. Each one is made for you.

At 1576, every journal is a singular object — handbound using traditional techniques, with materials chosen for their quality, texture, and longevity. No two are exactly alike.

The Materials

The paper inside each journal is recycled and handmade at home — every sheet made with care before it ever becomes a page. The covers are crafted from coconut leather, sourced as close to home as possible and treated with coconut oil, giving each journal a natural, living quality that deepens with use.

Full Moon Editions

Each full moon, a very small, limited edition batch of journals is made using moon water — left out overnight to harvest the energy of the moon. These editions are named for the moon under which they were made.

Past editions include the Flower Moon journals. Coming soon: the Blue Moon journals.

Full Moon editions are available exclusively through Modes Vintage UK in West Kilbride, and on their website. Once they're gone, they're gone.

You can also find Modes Vintage UK on Facebook here.

Commission a Journal

We work to commission, which means your journal is made specifically for you — your preferred size, paper weight, binding style, and cover material. It takes time, and that's exactly the point.

The Waiting List

Due to the nature of bespoke, handcrafted work, we operate a waiting list. If you'd like to commission a journal, we'd love to hear from you.

Get in touch to join the list and tell us a little about what you have in mind.
